“An inspired learning environment sets the imagination on fire and makes a young person feel loved. This is true: they feel loved, sensing the encompassing affection and respect that went into the creation of that learning space. And with beauty all around them, they will want to make beautiful things, too.”
–Dave Eggers
We were excited to learn that the Just Buffalo Writing Center is featured in Unnecessarily Beautiful Spaces for Young Minds on Fire, a new book published by McSweeney’s which highlights 34 writing centers around the world, from Milan, Italy to the lovely Buffalo, New York.
The publication is described as a “lavish, oversized book (which) takes you behind the scenes of how these centers started, in the hopes of inspiring more communities, schools, and libraries around the world to build their own centers for young writers.”
The Just Buffalo Writing Center is going into its sixth year this coming April, and has served young writers from over 60 schools across Western New York. With our newly renovated space complete, we look forward to continuing this necessary work and welcoming more young writers into the act of writing.
