As a precaution to help limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and care for our community, Just Buffalo Literary Center has postponed a number of events, and we will follow the guidance of Buffalo Public Schools in terms of Just Buffalo Writing Center programming.

We closed out season twelve (August 31, 2024) of the Silo City Reading Series with some collective magic. Readings by Megan Fernandes + 2024 Just Buffalo Poetry Fellow Diana Cao, music by DJ B-cutz + Dayatra Amber, roller skating by Mandela Huff + Drew Huff (unrelated), photography by DJ Carr + Mandela Huff, cyanotype tapestries by Aye Min Thant, tufting rugs by Drew Huff, and projections by Colton Wright.

On July 27, 2024 the Silo City Reading Series returned with readings from poets Michael McGriff and Cindy Juyoung Ok, a dreamy musical performance by Sun June, and a number of installations and projections by artist and visual storyteller Ariel Aberg-Riger. It was an unforgettable night full of poetry, music, and art. Big thanks to everyone who came out to support art in Buffalo.

The Silo City Reading Series returned on June 15, 2024 for it's 12th season. There was a memorable reading and performance given by poet & cultural theorist Fred Moten and double bassist Brandon Lopez. Poet Christina Vega-Westhoff started off the evening with a moving reading of her work. Artist Bree Gilliam showcased her work on the concrete walls of the silos. Thanks to everyone who made it down to the silos.

The Silo City Reading Series continued on July 22, 2023 on a beautiful night at the grain silos. Poets Ana Božičević and Sean Thomas Dougherty shared their work with a musical performance by the band Wild Pink who performed a stripped down set during the reading and a full band show at Duende afterwards with a moving projection installation by the artist Mizin Shin.

On Saturday, June 11, 2022 Just Buffalo Literary Center launched the 10th season of the Silo City Reading Series featuring poetry from Richie Hofmann & Albert Abonado, music by Yuki Numata Resnick & Clarice Jensen, and an installation of photography by Pat Cray & Max Collins. Saturday’s Silo City Reading Series finale let us extend the feeling of summer just a little longer—more warmth, more discovery, more time to explore & celebrate art in one of Buffalo’s most iconic spaces.
