Just Buffalo Literary Center is proud to collaborate with other local organizations on a number of community projects that help promote and achieve our mission—to create and strengthen communities through the literary arts.
The Just Buffalo Writing Center encourages young writers that are involved with the JBWC (ages 12–18) to apply to take part in our Youth Ambassador Program. Youth Ambassadors have the unique opportunity to play an integral role in the development and success of the JBWC’s programs and events.
For more than a century, Western New York has been home to some of the most significant and innovative writers. LIT CITY is a public art initiative which highlights Buffalo’s renowned literary legacy.
WORDS ON THE STREET is designed to engage the whole community in the celebration of the written and spoken word, with outdoor public readings, workshops, and events occurring all along the literary corridor on Washington Street to inspire people of all ages and all walks-of-life.
READ | SEED | WRITE is one of the newest initiatives of Just Buffalo Literary Center to make the literary arts more visible, inspiring gardeners and passersby through the written word, while also raising awareness about the importance of sustainable gardening and the need for urban access to healthy food.
LitTAP is a statewide initiative managed by Just Buffalo which provides nonprofit literary arts organizations with access to annual convenings, mentoring, advancement regrants, and other resources needed to self-sustain and thrive. It is one more way that Just Buffalo pursues its mission from a global perspective, connecting from its home base in Buffalo to the rest of the state, the country and the world, through programs that support writers and advance the literary arts field as a whole.
