Presenting The Inbetween, a chapbook of poetry and art by 2021 JBWC Youth Fellow Millie Rae Rodriguez-Spencer. “Not only was this my first completed project,” says Millie Rae, “but an enriching introduction to the Buffalo literary and poetry community that in turn ignited my passion for creating art again.”

Says poet Christina Vega-Westhoff of Millie Rae’s work, “There is energy, urgency, and play under and inside these words; the rhythm has a life of its own. A tangle, a question; brave and vulnerable artistry; this ‘heavy hitta spit a truth elixir.’ You’ll move through your world differently after reading.”

Each summer, the Just Buffalo Writing Center Youth Fellowship offers a motivated young writer the opportunity to develop their craft and explore professional avenues within the literary arts. Applications for the 2022 Youth Fellowship are open through June 6, 2022. Learn more & apply.
