Conversations About Home
The poetry of both Ocean Vuong and Warsan Shire illuminate the convoluted intersections existing within the bounds of what was, and what is. Weaving together narratives shaped by the lenses in which each of their respective identities have allowed them to interact, perceive, and understand the world; the poetry of Ocean Vuong and Warsan Shire allow one to question the impact of flight, and the feeling of un-belonging in environments dissimilar to one’s own.
This workshop looks to explore notions surrounding the idea of home. What is it? How does one come to better understand it within the context of their own respective identities and experiences? And in what ways can we replicate and cultivate our own notions of “home” through creative expression?
