PRISM at AKG
For the final Prism of the season, we’re heading to AKG! We’ll get a tour of Sin Wai Kin’s It’s Always You exhibit, and write inspired by it!
About the Exhibit
Sin Wai Kin produces complicated fictions based on their own journey through the spectrum of gender identity. Sin’s It’s Always You features a boyband of Sin’s construction in which they perform dressed up as each of the band’s four members. This sociocultural phenomenon [the boy band] serves as the backdrop for the universal message of It’s Always You: that all gender in the social sphere is a staged performance.
PRISM is a monthly creative writing workshop in collaboration with GLYS WNY, Teen Reality Theatre, and Just Buffalo Literary Center. All LGBTQ+ youth and friends are welcome to participate! This workshop series is ideal if you:
- Want to express themselves freely, without rules or inhibitions
- Love the idea of trying new things and new ways of doing things
- Want to connect with new friends with similar questions and desires
- Feel ready (though maybe a little scared) to share your writing in a group
- Are interested in exploring your own lives as writing material and sharing some of what comes up (we tend to get a little personal)
- Want to learn new things!
