Master’s Class in Memoir
What do you need to take your writing to the next level? Brian Castner will lead a one-day workshop on revising short personal essays and memoir, to reach that breakthrough where a piece reaches its full potential. All students will submit a piece in advance for detailed instructor feedback and also share existing drafts of their work to be discussed by the class.
Please be prepared to submit your writing sample no later than February 19 to submissions@justbuffalo.org.

About the Teaching Artist
Brian Castner is the author of Disappointment River, All the Ways We Kill and Die, and the war memoir The Long Walk, which was adapted into an opera and named an Amazon Best Book for 2012. A former Explosive Ordnance Disposal officer and veteran of the Iraq War, his journalism and essays have appeared in the New York Times, Wired, Esquire, and on National Public Radio. He is a two-time grantee of the Pulitzer Center, and is the co-editor of The Road Ahead: Stories from the Forever War.
