About the Poet
Zach Savich was born in Michigan and raised in Washington, where he received his BA in English from the University of Washington. He also earned MFAs in creative writing from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
Savich is the author of seven poetry collections: Momently (Black Ocean Press, 2024), Daybed (Black Ocean, 2018), The Orchard Green and Every Color (Omnidawn Publishing, 2016); Century Swept Brutal (Black Ocean, 2013); The Firestorm (Cleveland State University Poetry Center, 2011), winner of the Cleveland State University Poetry Center’s Open Award; Annulments (Center for Literary Publishing, 2010), winner of the 2010 Colorado Prize for Poetry; and Full Catastrophe Living (University of Iowa Press, 2009), winner of the 2008 Iowa Poetry Prize. He is also the author of the lyric memoirs Events Film Cannot Withstand (Rescue Press, 2011) and Diving Makes the Water Deep (2016).
Savich is Associate Professor of Creative Writing at the Cleveland Institute of Art, an editor at the Cleveland Review of Books, and serves as the co-editor of Rescue Press’s Open Prose Series. He lives in Cleveland, Ohio.

- On June 7 at 6p.m., Fitz Books will host writers from Artpark’s Summer Residency program sponsored by Foundlings Press. The evening will feature readings by 2023 residents Zach Savich and Hilary Plum and 2024 residents Rachelle Toarmino and Ariel Aberg-Riger, an AI-powered digital poetry installation from 2023 resident Julianne Neely, remarks from Artpark president Dave Wedekindt, and a display of historic Artpark publications from Aaron Bartley. Attendees will receive a free copy of Artpark’s commemorative summer 2023 residency publication (while supplies last). The event doubles as a stop on Zach Savich’s tour for his new book Momently, just out from Black Ocean Press. Fitz Books is located at 433 Ellicott St. in Buffalo. The event is free and open to the public.
