Ever loved a poem so much you wanted to wear it? Join poet and Peach Mag editor in chief Rachelle Toarmino for a workshop exploring the relationship between what we say and what we wear. Participants will learn about the history of embroidery as a woman’s art of resistance alongside the contemporary ways we wear words, and leave the session with pieces of clothing showcasing their own workshopped and embroidered micro-poems.

Description

RACHELLE TOARMINO is a writer and editor from Niagara Falls, New York. She is the author of the series of paparazzi poems Graphic, and the chapbook of embroidery poems Personal & Generic. She is the cofounder and editor in chief of Peach Mag, and the editor of the anthology With You: Withdrawn Poetry of the #MeToo Movement. Her poems and essays have appeared or are forthcoming in McSweeney’s, Metatron, Shabby Doll House, Veil Work, and other places online and in print, as well as anthologized in My Next Heart: New Buffalo Poetry. A former teacher and bookseller, she currently works in legal marketing and as a teaching artist at Just Buffalo Literary Center.
