BABEL

Just Buffalo Literary Center’s acclaimed BABEL series brings the world’s most important authors to Buffalo each year, creating a global literary conversation right here at home.

Silo City Reading Series

The SILO CITY READING SERIES is a summer multidisciplinary poetry series which includes musical performances and visual art installations.

Caffé Aroma Poetry Night

Open Mic Poetry Night at Caffé Aroma (957 Elmwood Avenue @ Bidwell), hosted by Justin Karcher & Ben Brindise.

Canisius Contemporary Writers Series

Brings nationally and internationally known writers to the campus of Canisius.

Exhibit X Fiction Series

Showcases experimental and innovative fictions: from new novels to anti-novels, from criti-fictions to cross-genre writing, from hypermedia to the avant-pop…to whatever comes next, whatever that may be—fictions that, as yet, have no name.

Inner-Ear Reading Series @ Rust Belt Books

A monthly reading series taking place at the iconic Rust Belt Books.

The 4th Friday Reading Series @ Dog Ears Bookstore & Café

The 4th Friday Reading Series meets every month for a communal poetry reading featuring WNY poets. Hosted by Paige Melin.

The Literary Café @ The Center for Inquiry

The Literary Café is held on the first Wednesday of every month and features local writers. It is held at the Center for Inquiry, located at 1310 Sweet Home Road in Amherst, NY. All readings are free and open to the public.

A reading series focusing on bringing poets together to wield their words for the betterment of self and community.

Pure Ink Poetry Slam @ The Gypsy Parlor

Pure Ink Poetry at the Gypsy Parlor is the only monthly running poetry slam in Buffalo, NY and is nationally certified by Poetry Slam Incorporated.

Daemen College poetry reading series. Free and open to the public.

Readings @ Second Reader Bookshop

A sporadic reading series that takes place at Second Reader Bookshop in North Buffalo.

 

Second Stage Writers

An organization with the goal of welcoming all of Buffalo’s poets. Meetings, readings, criticism, and cocktails.

Poetics Plus @ University at Buffalo

A reading series sponsored by Poetics Program, Poetics Plus brings contemporary experimental poets to UB to read from their work.

 

 

Wordism

A monthly non-competitive open mic event for spoken word artists. At each of these events, the objective is to get a person who has never participated in an open mic be inspired to do so.

The Write Thing Reading Series @ Medaille College

The Write Thing Reading Series has been devoted to bringing literary artists to Medaille College’s campus, for the purposes of enhancing the educational experience of students on the campus and contributing to Buffalo’s larger literary community.
