The Iris’s Dream
written by Mathias Svalina
I am playing music with a few other plants, all of us improvising, listening deeply to one another as only plants can listen to plants. I grab whatever closest to me, a mechanical, an empty cup, a safety pins, & play each thing as it is best played, strumming, plucking, drumming, finding the music that only this object could create, as the other plants play their make-shift instruments with me. It is an unholy racket, the music we make together, but it is our unholy racket & I love it.
