"Heavy" Reflections provides community members a continuing opportunity to reflect deeply on their personal experiences and on how they relate to Kiese Laymon’s memoir and BABEL discussion.

Join us to hear UB Distinguished Professor and noted Dickinson Scholar Cristanne Miller read from and discuss the just-released volume of The Letters of Emily Dickinson that she co-edited for Harvard University Press with Domhnall Mitchell.

A writer’s open mic night featuring live music and art accompaniment! Have you ever wondered what your poem would sound like as a song, or look like as a doodle? Come find out!  How does that work? Well, as you read your story, SCA staff artist Alisia Glasier will create an original doodle inspired by the piece, and singer-songwriter Stephen Wilger will play a song that fits the “mood” of the piece. The audience will get to experience your piece in three different mediums, and you get to go home with a souvenir piece of art.  Please join us on Wednesday May 8th from 6-8 pm for this event.
