John Burroughs is an American poet, writer, performer, and publisher known for his association with the Beat poetry movement, having served as both Ohio Beat Poet Laureate and the U.S. National Beat Poet Laureate. He is the founder and publisher of Crisis Chronicles Press and an author of multiple books and chapbooks, including Rattle and Numb: Selected and New Poems and The Wrest of the Worthwhile. His work is characterized by its musicality and often addresses themes of social injustice and the human condition.
Susan Nusbaum received a BA from Smith College and a law degree from the University of Buffalo Law School. Her fourth poetry collection. This Uncertain Voyage was published in 2024. What We Take With Us (2014), Open Wide, the Eye (2016), and Alive in This Place (2019), were released by Coffeetown Press. Born in Rochester, NY, she lives in Buffalo NY where she raised her family, worked as a musician, teacher, arts administrator, and most recently as an attorney. Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including The Connecticut River Review, Poetry East, Woven Tale Press, Nimrod International Journal, Chautauqua Literary Journal, Wisconsin Review, and the anthology A Celebration of Western New York Poets.
