Literary Café at CFI featuring Perry NIcholas and Jane Sadowsky

Readings by featured poets Perry Nicholas and Jane Sadowsky from their work on December 6 at 7:30 at Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Rd. (off Maple) Amherst. NY. Free and open to the public. Handicap accessible.

Perry Nicholas is a professor emeritus of English at SUNY Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y., where he was awarded the 2008 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship.
His full-length book, The River of You, was published in 2009 by FootHills Publishing, followed by What the World Sees, published by Saddle Road Press in 2011. His other books include Small Crafts (The Writer’s Den, 2012), and Beginnings: Poems to Greece and Back, released in 2012. He has seven chapbooks out: Ancient History (2013), Like Trying to Explain (2014), Emergency Visit (2015), The Poet Upstairs (2017), Laundry (2018), Why I Learned to Spell (The Writer’s Den, 2019) and as a man in the moon (The Writer’s Den, 2020). His new chapbbook, The Unveiling, is due out in 2023 from Finishing Line Press. His poem The Last Night We Heard Bob Dylan Play was nominated for the Best of the Net in 2018.
His poems have appeared in Common Ground Review, Literary House Review, Caesura, Silver Birch Press, Snapdragon, Verse-Virtual, Slant, Feile-Festa, Louisiana Literature, Chautauqua Literary Journal, Chest, New York Quarterly, Great Lakes Review, Chronogram, and the Buffalo News. He has approximately 200 poems in print and online and also is featured in the anthologies Right Here, Right Now, Resurrection of a Sunflower, Flash in the Dark, and A Celebration of Western New York Poets.
Perry Nicholas has co-hosted many poetry series: the Lewiston Arts Café series, the Screening Room Series, Empire State College Series, the Center for Inquiry Series, the Buffalo Corner Series, and readings at the Italian Cultural Center.

Jane Sadowsky has been published in the Buffalo News and Earth’s Daughters magazine, as well as in a plethora of anthologies, including Beyond Bones (May Fair Publishing, 2009), Voices From the Herd (Doubt It Publishing, 2010), The Empty Chair (The Writer’s Den, 2010), Mo’Joe the Anthology (Beatlick Press, 2014), A Celebration of Western New York Poets (Buffalo Legacy Publications, 2016), Birdsong (Foothills, 2016), and The Sexuality Poems (Foothills, 2017), Cloudburst Anthology (Foothills, 2017), Joe Retires to What Will Be (FootHills, 2019), Poets Speak Anthologies: Water (2017) and Survival (2018) (Beatlick Press & Jule’s Poetry Playhouse Publications). She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2010. Her poem Toward the Light (from The Empty Chair) was put to music by composer James Piorkowski and performed and recorded by the trio ANA in 2010. Her poetry has been praised for its “sparkling wholesomeness and Native American influenced spirituality.” Ploughshares called attention to her as a poet who is “a blue-chip talent.”
