Book launch for Gene Bunnell’s Buffalo’s Waterfront Renaissance
Author and urban planner Gene Bunnell, a Buffalo native, has spent the last few years investigating the changing political landscape and drama surrounding the city’s waterfront, the Inner and Outer Harbors and the termination site of the Erie Canal. In Buffalo’s Waterfront Renaissance: Citizen Activists, NGOs and the Canalside Project he recounts how preservationists and environmentalists ultimately succeeded in persuading a powerful state agency to abandon its plans for privately developing Buffalo’s waterfront and instead revitalize the city by enhancing opportunities for members of the public to use and enjoy that same space. It’s an ongoing story in our community, with far-reaching consequences, here put into context.
