Hunger and Heart (Youth)

Hunger and Heart

People say that the way to the heart is through the stomach, and many writers would tend to agree. In this workshop, we will look at ways that people write about food in both traditional food writing, and other creative work–from fiction to essay to poetry. Together we will talk about the recipes that make us who we are, from favorite family meals to comfort snacks, and we will develop prompts and tools to write about food in descriptive and emotional ways. All genres welcome, and no previous writing experience is necessary! Warning: students may leave hungry!
