Speaking Trees In The Dark: an eco-fiction workshop

Taught by: Alexis David, fiction writer & poet

Where:
Just Buffalo Writing Center
468 Washington Street @ Mohawk, 2nd Floor
Buffalo, NY 14203
Dates: October 3 & October 5, 2017
Time:
4:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m.

In looking at breakthrough tree research, animal poems and the concept of darkness, this workshop asks students to consider the prefix “eco” as a community which includes biotic (plants and animals) and abiotic (rivers, mountains) elements. Thinking of darkness or nighttime as a change, conflict, character or setting, we will immerse ourselves in literal darkness and write stories under our own illumination.

This workshop is FREE, aimed at young students aged 12–18, and limited to 12 participants.
