Lively discussion is welcome. A writing prompt will be given before each session for those who like to respond creatively. Time will be allotted for sharing that work at the end of the following session.

  • Session 1 (April 12): Style as a container, especially for disaster or overwhelming events. Features a visit from Kyle LoConti, director of Irish Classical Theatre Company’s production of The Year of Magical Thinking.
  • Session 2 (April 19): Loss, in all its meanings.
  • Session 3: (April 26): Magical thinking: how, when, and why we use it. Features a visit from Victoria Pérez, actress in Irish Classical Theatre Company’s production of The Year of Magical Thinking.

This virtual book group is in conjunction with the Irish Classical Theatre Company’s (ICTC) staging of a professionally produced, fully staged performance of The Year of Magical Thinking, filmed at ICTC’s home, the Andrews Theatre, and available for streaming April 9–25, 2021.
