Broken Essays: A Youth Writing Workshop

What happens if you can only remember something in pieces? Join poet, essayist, and Peach Mag editor-in-chief Rachelle Toarmino for a workshop exploring the technique of collage in crafting fragmented memoir. In this workshop, participants will combine collected found text with fragments of their own writing to give shape to nonlinear personal essays.

No registration required. This workshop is FREE, aimed at young students aged 12–18, and limited to 12 participants.

About the Teaching Artist

Rachelle Toarmino is a writer and editor from Niagara Falls, New York. She is the author of the poetry collection That Ex (Big Lucks Books, 2020) and the chapbook Feel Royal (b l u s h lit, 2019). She is the founding editor-in-chief of Peach Mag and the editor of the anthology With You: Withdrawn Poetry of the #MeToo Movement. She lives in Buffalo, where she works as the communications and development manager of Arts Services Initiative of Western New York.
