Saturday, September 5, 2020 Here For It (Youth) Categories: Official JB Events Timelines: 3b: Past Workshops (Unseen Archive), 4: Joel Brenden Workshops & Events
Can a picture speak truth? Do art and creativity have a role to play in changing our world? What are the connections between pictures, words, and justice? This workshop is an exploration of how photographers have used their life and pictures to honor and affirm people, bear witness to challenges and change, and spread the word of hope and justice. Together we will look at images by photographers such as Latoya Ruby Frazier and Robert Frank, and their collaboration with writers such as James Baldwin. We will use our powers of interpretation and visualization to create our own written response to photographs real and imagined.
