Finding Funny Forms
There are writing forms surrounding you every day, from grocery lists to book reports to tweets. Join humorist D. Arthur in a workshop that explores the basics of the type of humor writing found on McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Onion, and The New Yorker’s Daily Shouts. In this workshop, participants will combine everyday writing forms with their personal interests to write short humor pieces by finding the funny in the world around them.

This workshop is FREE, aimed at young students aged 12–18, and limited to 8 participants.
About the Teaching Artist
D. Arthur is a fiction writer, humorist, and events producer from Buffalo, NY. Her work can be found in McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, The Belladonna Comedy, Electric Literature, Peach Mag, and elsewhere. She is the cofounder of Virago Buffalo, a local creative collective that hosts events empowering and celebrating women, queer, and NB creatives. She is the Media & News Director for VIDA: Women in Literary Arts, Outreach Coordinator for Peach Mag, and a fiction reader for Split Lip Magazine. She is at work on her first novel.
