Magnetic Comparisons: A Figurative Language Workshop
How is a metaphor like a magnet? In this workshop we will explore the power of similes and metaphors to jolt us out of our usual writing habits. We’ll look at epic similes, extended metaphors, and other ways to make the familiar strange. While figurative language is often beautiful, we’ll embrace its lesser-known effects like busting clichés, transforming ordinary objects, and cracking jokes. This workshop is open to any genre and no previous writing experience is necessary!
