In preparation for every BABEL event, Just Buffalo hosts a book discussion at Betty’s. Facilitated by a local scholar or expert, these discussions give everyone a chance to come together and discuss the author’s work. Come enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine and a bite to eat and join the conversation!

The discussion of Dinaw Mengestu’s The Beautiful Things That Heaven Bears will be led by Aimable Twagilimana.

Aimable Twagilimana is a Professor of English at SUNY Buffalo State College where his teaching and research focus on American, African American, and African Diaspora literatures; genocide and ethnic studies (covering Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo); as well as international business and macroeconomics. He holds degrees from the University at Buffalo (PhD), the National University of Rwanda (BA and MA), the University of Reading in Great Britain (MA), and the School of Management at the University of Buffalo (Executive MBA). His numerous awards include scholarships from the Fulbright program, the British Council, and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
