This two-part workshop covers the basics of playwriting, from the elements of drama to the rudiments of stagecraft. The first session reviews the fundamentals and the Dramatist Guild format for playwriting. In the second session, participants will bring in copies of a scene from a play-in-progress for in-session reading aloud and discussion.

Gary Earl Ross has written 13 full-length plays, nine of which have been produced in Buffalo and other cities. His playwriting honors include three Emanuel Fried Outstanding New Play Artie Awards, a Saltonstall Foundation playwriting fellowship, and an Edgar Award for Drama from Mystery Writers of America. Ross is also a novelist whose Nickel City mystery series is published by Black Opal books.
