For more than 40 years, Just Buffalo Literary Center has sent poets, writers, and performers into the schools to excite students and teachers in the practice and exploration of creative writing.
Each JBWC creative writing program is custom-designed in collaboration with classroom teachers and administrators to focus on student needs. We create the space and flexibility so students can develop their creative and critical abilities with language—to explore their own creativity and become more insightful thinkers.
Professional writers join students in the classroom for custom-designed, theme-based writer residencies, complementing and supporting the school curriculum.
The JBWC also welcomes schools, educators, organizations, and groups to visit us for a custom-designed creative writing experience.
We at the JBWC believe that teachers are the most passionate, dedicated, and creative people on the planet, and we want to support their creativity. That’s why our creative writing programs offer professional development opportunities just for them.
Our FREE after-school creative writing programs, including all youth writing workshops and other JBWC youth events, are aimed at young writers aged 12–18 and have options to join in-person or virtually.
