On April 26, 2023, our BABEL season concluded with a visit from National Book Critics Circle Award-winning and bestselling author Isabel Wilkerson, author of The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration. Her visit is part of our ongoing Civil Writes Project, which finds inspiration & guidance in the writings of the world’s foremost Black authors & thinkers to grapple with racism and inequities through literature, to find pathways toward justice in the power of the written word, and to open hearts & minds as we confront our shared past & present in order to shape a more equitable future.

We are very grateful for Wilkerson’s generosity with the students who attended her afternoon event before the big evening.
