Just Buffalo Literary Center joins the poetry world in honoring the life & fierce legacy of Alice Notley who sadly transitioned on May 20, 2025.

Alice was one of the first poets to grace a Just Buffalo stage — pictured here in 1978 alongside JBLC founder Debora Ott & Anselm Hollo.

Over the years, Alice returned to Buffalo numerous times, her work a forcefield of restless language & radical tenderness, a challenge to what poetry could be, should be, must risk becoming.
