Join Just Buffalo for a BABEL like no other as we welcome bestselling author and MacArthur Fellowship recipient Ta-Nehisi Coates for a virtual conversation with Artistic Director Barbara Cole. Coates’s books include We Were Eight Years in Power and Between The World And Me, winner of the National Book Award in 2015. His first novel, The Water Dancer, was a #1 New York Times bestseller. Coates is also the author of the Marvel comics The Black Panther and Captain America.
In 2021, Just Buffalo Literary Center once again launches THE CIVIL WRITES PROJECT with a series of interconnected community events that open conversations, encourage reading and writing, and invite widespread community participation around BABEL visits from the world’s foremost Black & African-American writers.
Dedicated to the empowerment of young voices, the Just Buffalo Writing Center provides access to writing workshops, literary events, and one-on-one assistance with all kinds of writing. Our center hopes to help young people attain the tools they need to flourish as writers and leaders in our community.
The JBWC also plays home to adult writing workshops for adult writers of all ages and skill levels, as well as providing workshops for encouraging and supporting the teachers and schools in our community.
Since 1975, Just Buffalo has brought some of the world’s greatest literary talent—authors, poets, playwrights, and more—right here to Western New York. Check out some of the highlights from each decade.
