“Masters of the Grid: Graphic Novel Writing” In this ongoing workshop, we’ll be looking at the mechanics of comics and learning how to communicate stories most effectively through language of sequential art. We will explore the worlds of drawing & creative writing while compiling our own short anthology to be bound at the Western New York Book Arts Center.

“What Is A Chapbook” Participants will explore various chapbook collections & learn about the process of creating a collection of their own. We will also construct a special JBWC chapbook anthology that will be sold at the Buffalo Small Press Book Fair.

“Poetic Translation” The poet Robert Frost famously claimed that “Poetry is what gets lost in translation.” What happens, then, when you try to translate poetry itself? This workshop is about exploring the ways we can convert one mode of language into another, using sound play, codes, emojis, and more!
