All workshops are FREE, aimed at young writers aged 12-18, and limited to 12 participants
“Poetic Trading Cards” Stop hoarding those poems! Design artists’ trading cards using compact poems, color, rubber stamps, and collage, and then give them away for the holidays, trade with other poets, leave them on the bus, or otherwise keep them circulating.
“Poem and Book Holiday Gifts” This workshop will feature a number of holiday gift giving and decorating projects. Artists will create poem cards, poem tags, poem envelopes, tiny books and ornaments.
“Poetry in Motion” Earth, water, fire, air, space. Practice a few poses and a guided relaxation with a certified yoga teacher to explore your internal geography, then create a travel journal or map of what you discovered there.
“Masters of the Grid: Graphic Novel Writing” In this extended workshop, we’ll be looking at the mechanics of comics and learning how to communicate stories most effectively through language of sequential art. We will explore the worlds of drawing & creative writing while compiling our own short anthology to be bound at the Western New York Book Arts Center.

“Digital Language” This workshop is about using digital language to expand how we make poems. We will be writing poems with words that hyperlink, illustrate, time travel, and multitask as much as we do.
“Poetic Translation” The poet Robert Frost famously claimed that “Poetry is what gets lost in translation.” What happens, then, when you try to translate poetry itself? This workshop is about exploring the ways we can convert one mode of language into another, using sound play, codes, emojis, and more!
