Season Subscription tickets are good for all four of the BABEL events at Kleinhans for the 2016–2017 season.

  • VIP Patron Tickets include preferred seating and access to a pre-event catered reception at Kleinhans, attended by the author of the evening.
  • After each event, all ticket holders enjoy an interview-style Q&A moderated by Artistic Director Barbara Cole, and may have their books signed by the author.

Marlon James (10.19.2016)

MARLON JAMES was born in Jamaica in 1970. His most recent novel, A Brief History Of Seven Killings, won the 2015 Man Booker Prize. It was also a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award and won the OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature for fiction, the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for fiction, and the Minnesota Book Award. It was also a New York Times Notable Book.

LAILA LALAMI is the author of the novels Hope And Other Dangerous Pursuits, which was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award; Secret Son, which was on the Orange Prize longlist, and The Moor’s Account, which won the American Book Award, the Arab American Book Award, and the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award.

Edna O’Brien (03.24.2017)

Irish novelist and short-story writer EDNA O’BRIEN was born on 15 December 1930 in Tuamgraney, County Clare, Ireland. Edna O’Brien’s most recent books are the novel The Light Of Evening (2006) and Byron In Love (2009). She is a member of Aosdána, an Irish organisation founded to promote the arts, and adjunct professor of English Literature at University College, Dublin. She is also an honorary member of the American Academy of Letters.

Dave Eggers (04.20.2017)

DAVE EGGERS is the author of ten books, including most recently Your Fathers, Where Are They? And the Prophets, Do They Live Forever?, The Circle, and A Hologram For The King, which was a finalist for the 2012 National Book Award. He is the founder of McSweeney’s, an independent publishing company based in San Francisco that produces books, a quarterly journal of new writing (McSweeney’s Quarterly Concern), and a monthly magazine (The Believer).
