Bruce Fisher, former Deputy County Executive, current Artvoice columnist and Buffalo State professor, grew up in Western New York in a family with deep roots here. He went away for a while, but moved back and planted his own roots. His new book, Borderlands, is a collection of essays that meditate on what it means to grow up and live on the border between two similar and very different countries. Readers used to the political analysis of Fisher's Artvoice columns will probably be surprised by the more personal nature of these pieces. Buffalo First is co-sponsoring this event, and a porton of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to this non-profit, dedicated to the sustenance of the local living economy.
