“A Musical Feast” FREE concert FEBRUARY 14, 2 PM

"A Musical Feast" will feature             Charles Haupt,violin and Jonathan Golove, cello, in Bohuslav Martinu’s (1890-1958) Duo Nr.2 ; Claudia Hoca,piano, in selections of works by Erik Satie (1866-1925), and Jean Kopperud, clarinet, in Jacob Druckman’s “Animus III” After intermission will be the premier showing of the video “Shamayim”, music by David Felder, images by Elliot Caplan “Shamayim”,is an extended meditation, inspired in part by close readings of the Book of Formation (Sefer Yetzirah), the writings of thirteenth century mystic Abraham Abulafia, and descriptions of state of consciousness that accompany prophetic experiences. The unique talents of bass singer Nicholas Isherwood were the primary sources for all the sounds in the piece, with accompanying natural sounds and selected ringing metals. “Shamayim” began as a music work commissioned in 3 parts from numerous European festivals and Project Isherwood. Video maker Elliot Caplan began work in Spring 2006, the entire work received its premier in June, 2008 at The University at Buffalo. The DVD “Shamayim” is available from Albany records.
