| Center for Inquiry Literary Cafe Literary Reading with Gunilla Kester, Gary Earl Ross, and Joyce Kessel Sponsored by: Just Buffalo Wednesday, September 2, 2009 @ 7:30 PM Please note: There will be no open slots in September, October, and November at the Literary Cafe. We will focus on 3 writers per month. This month our readers will be: GUNILLA KESTER, Ph.D, author of Time of Sand and Teeth, published and nominated for the Jean Pedrick Chapbook Award. She was a finalist for the May Swenson Poetry Award 2009 and was nominated for a 2010 Puschcart Prize from Not Just Air. Her poetry appears in Poetic Voices Without Borders I and II as well as Nickel City Nights. An accomplished guitarist, she performs and teaches classical guitar. Her CD, Songs of Healing and Hope with Cantor Susan Wehle, was released in 2006. GARY EARL ROSS is a professor at the University of Buffalo EOC and the award-winning author of more than 170 published short stories, poems, articles, scholarly papers, and public radio essays. His books and staged plays include Tales Macabre and Curious, Sleepwalker: The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, the children's tale Dots, and Matter of Intent. Ross was recently named playwright-in-residence at Ujima Company and was awarded a Contance Saltonstall Foundation Fellowship in Playwriting. JOYCE KESSEL has been a member of Earth's Daughters since 1989. Her work has appeared on WNY Metro buses through Swift Kick, and in Black Mountain II Review, Pure Light, Earth's Daughters, A Room of Our Own, and Reader's Quarterly. She teaches literature, writing, fine arts, and interdisciplinary courses at Villa Maria College and reviews audio books for Library Journal. Kessel participated in the Rustbelt Roethke Professional Writer's Workshop in summer 2009.
