Rowhouse Reads is a joint venture between Rowhouse Bakery & Restaurant and Just Buffalo Literary Center. Every other month we will gather together, share our thoughts, break bread, and chat.

For our inaugural meeting, we are reading an exciting new anthology, It Occurs to Me That I Am America, a collection of stories and visual art. With an introduction from BABEL’s March guest Viet Thanh Nguyen, contributors include Julia Alvarez, Louise Erdrich, Joyce Carol Oates, and Alice Walker amongst others.

Our moderator is Matthew K. Pelkey. A partner with Colligan Law LLP, Pelkey’s practice relates primarily to counseling entrepreneurs and businesses, regulatory compliance, government relations and complex civil litigation. He also serves an adjunct professor at the University at Buffalo Law School lecturing on entrepreneurship and technology. He is a member of the ACLU, New York State Bar Association and served as a Co-Executive Editor of the ABA Journal of Affordable Housing & Community Development. Pelkey is also a strong advocate for sustainable development serving on several boards and committees for local nonprofits dedicated to regeneration of Western New York. Before practicing law, he served as a legislative assistant and political staffer for several officials and candidates throughout New York.

$20/$15 for members and admission will include a selection of bread boards, pizza, coffee, tea, beer or wine. A portion of proceeds will benefit Just Buffalo Literary Center.

Limited to 25 people.
