Date: November 19, 2017
Time: 2:00–5:00 p.m.
In November, a special Inner Ear Poetry Series event will take place–a live group reading of Robert Creeley’s adventurous prose work, Presences: A Text for Marisol. Our event will honor the memory of Robert Creeley, and the memory of Marisol (a/k/a Maria Sol Escobar), the great Venezuelan and American pop sculptor (born France, 1930-2016); and celebrate the bequest of Marisol’s estate (including 100+ sculptures and 150+ works on paper) to the Albright Knox Museum, the first museum to acquire her work.
Anyone who comes to this event may join in the reading, or else simply listen. Xeroxes of this work will be available (from the Robert Creeley Collected Prose volume), as well as at least one copy to flip through of the Scribner’s volume that combines the Creeley text with an ample array of photos of Marisol’s work. (If possible, please bring along any copies you may have–the eight or ten Xeroxes that will be available may not prove sufficient). There will be short recorded musical interludes–probably jazz by Creeley’s friend, soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy, maybe something else. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE’LL BEGIN EARLIER THAN USUAL, AT 2PM.
$3 contribution requested.
